Samera Esmeir is associate professor in the Department of Rhetoric at the University of California, Berkeley. She is the author of Juridical Humanity: A Colonial History (2012). She has also published articles on such questions as colonial law, memory, war, violence, colonialism, disaster, human rights, revolution, and internationalism. She is currently finishing a book manuscript, titled The Struggle that Remains: Between World and International. Esmeir is the senior editor of Critical Times: Interventions in Global Critical Theory.
