Bashir Abu-Manneh will be joining the Brown Comparative Literature and Middle East Studies faculties as Visiting Assistant Professor in 2013. A scholar of literatures of the Middle East, Marxist and Postcolonial Literary and Cultural Theory, Abu-Manneh most recently held a position at Barnard College at Columbia. His current project is on the aesthetics and politics of the modern Palestinian novel, a topic that fits very well with the After Oslo programming theme that will be undertaken by Middle East Studies in the 2013-2014 academic year. The author of Fiction of the New Statesman, 1913-1939 (Delaware, 2011) and numerous articles, Dr. Abu-Manneh holds a D.Phil. in English Literature from Oxford University, an MA from the University of Warwick, and a BA from the University of Haifa
